Ending Homelessness Sustainably

in the shelter.jpg

The Yellowknife Women's Society supports and wants to collaborate in any initiative or endeavour to end homelessness. Last month we announced the purchase of a new building which will begin the process of expanding the breadth of services that we are able to offer to address women's homelessness. As an NGO, the financial sustainability of services is a critical component of programming that also must meet a wide variety of community needs.

New Building for the Centre for Northern Families

We are excited to announce we are purchasing a new building! We will be moving our day care and family programs this summer, which includes undertaking renovations so the new building will meet our needs to provide our services to the community!

As well, we will be renovating our current building solely for women's accommodations.  This timing works out great with our previously scheduled exterior repairs from NWT Housing (we are under lease to them), however, this will not cover the renovations inside the building for things like the bedrooms and washrooms.

Let us know if you want to be kept up to date with the status of our move - sign up for volunteer opportunities, program updates and community events at

You can donate to us online here
