Serve as a Director on our Board:

The Yellowknife Women's Society is the governing body of the Centre for Northern Families. The Board ​of Directors meets monthly and is in the second year of implementing a 4 year strategic plan. The Board has accomplished amazing things over the last 5 years, including implementing a sustainability plan that moved the society from a position of debt to balanced budgets with an operational reserve!

It's a perfect time to integrate new members! You will have the benefit of a comprehensive orientation, organized governance binders, and starting your journey with us as we implement the strategic growth of our organization!

​​Sing with Kids:

​​Do you play an instrument? Love Song and Rhyme? Every Thursday morning our Healthy Baby Club kids join our Daycare kids for "Sing & Play." We'd love to set up a time that you can come perform for our non-judmental audience and help our kids develop early literacy and rhythm!

​​​Cook with Parents​:

​Are you an expert at managing a budget while keeping your family's health and nutrition on track? Maybe you're a breastfeeding superstar? We'd love to have you share with our weekly Wednesday Healthy Baby & Toddler Club Cooking Circle!

Daycare Staff:

The Centre for Northern Families is seeking an energetic, caring, team player to join our staff in our Daycare Program. The daycare is licensed for 20 spaces and serves children between 12 months to 5 years old. We endeavour to provide children with positive play-based experiences that promote early development.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Providing care for children
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with children and their families
  • Assisting in the delivery of lesson plans and activities

This position requires:
  • A diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Clear Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector check
  • Experience working in childcare environment

Previous  experience working with children and/or adults with disability and/or behavioural issues would be considered an asset.

Casual On-Call Shelter Staff:

The Centre for Northern Families Emergency Shelter operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and serves adult women experiencing challenges in their lives. Starting wage is $​18/ hour.

  • Responsive to the needs of those around you?

  • Able to communicate clearly, collaboratively and effectively?

We are looking for people with these qualities to maintain a safe, positive environment for women who access our shelter. ​

  • Addictions Counseling
  • Trauma Informed Practice
  • Supporting people living with disability including mental illness and/or addictions
  • Relevant lived experience that has equipped you with the skills and heart to help others to move forward​
​​Substitute Daycare Teachers:

The Centre for Northern Families Daycare offers childcare to children from 12 months to 5 years old through registered monthly, daily drop in and respite spaces. We have a strong focus on Early Development and are seeking substitute teachers to help us out when our regular teachers are away!
